family birthday calendar

I saw a hanging family birthday calendar on pinterest and thought it was such a great idea.  So I decided to make my own version and send it to my mom for Mother's Day.

I painted the small wooden ovals and wrote the names and birth dates of our immediate family members. There's a little overlap in May (Cole and Brantley) and July (Ava and most likely Malia). I didn't want the ovals to hang beneath one another so I changed mine a little bit from the example I saw. I also color-coded the ovals-green for my mom, dad, and Zach, brown for Cole and Alli's family, and orange for the Byrds. I planned for the future and painted one brown oval for Malia (who is expected to arrive in late July) and two extra orange ovals for sometime within the decade. :)
