computer virus

As I was bringing my students in from recess, one of them yells, "Aww...Ms. West, he said the 'a' word!" After I calmed all of them down and got them inside, I pulled the student out into the hallway and spoke with him privately about the situation. He admitted to saying the bad word, and I gave my lecture about why cursing is inappropriate. He seemed to understand, and then he looked up at me and said, "Ms. West, it's like a computer virus." I replied, "What do you mean exactly?" He explained, "You know how a computer virus gets into your computer and messes it all up? Well, those boys get into my head and force me to make bad choices." It took everything I had not to outwardly laugh, but I sure was dying on the inside! I then sputtered out, "Yeah, I understand. Maybe you shouldn't hang out with those viruses then."

Most days, they drive me crazy, but I sure do love it when they make me laugh! :)
