Last Thursday, after returning from the airport to pick up several family members, I walked in our condo, and as usual, Milo greeted me at the door. I scooped him up and began hugging on him. The next thing I know, there are cameras flashing, and there's a new pup being handed to me. He was all decked out in a black tux and ready for his new mom and dad's wedding. I was later told that he was a wedding gift from my parents, brothers, sister-in-law, and niece.
I couldn't believe the lengths they went to surprise me. My brother researched breeders, made a 5-hour trip to Kansas City and back (after working and going to school), then my parents made the long journey out to Charlotte with him, dropped him off early one morning at my friend's house, and then Brantley picked him up two days later. Sheesh! That was a lot of work and tons of planning!
Since we've been out of town, he's been in Virginia with some of his grandparents until the weekend. On Sunday, I'll finally get to spend some time with our newest addition!

Brantley and I have had dog names picked out for several months-maybe even years so there was no question about it. We named him Ace, despite Ava's request for "Uno Muno Snowball." Besides, I think Ace Byrd has a nice ring to it! Lol!
