Tomorrow our team will celebrate a co-worker's birthday with some yummy red velvet cake balls that I made for the second time ever. They're delicious treats, but they take some patience and gentle care. You first have to bake cake, let it thoroughly cool, and then crumble it into a bowl. After that, you add some icing, form the mixture into cake balls, and refrigerate for a while. Then comes the most difficult part-the dipping. In a double broiler, you have to melt the chocolate and gently drop one in at a time and scoop it out with a large spoon. This time I decided to double-dip them so they'd look more presentable. I drizzled a little leftover milk chocolate, and ta-da!
According to Gordon Ramsey, a chef always has to taste their own food so I dug right in and had one...or two...or maybe three :) Needless to say, my will power is nearly non-existent today. Oh well!
