special someone: Amber

I'm not the touchy-feely, mushy type. I don't initiate "I love you's," and I'm not exactly a romantic. In a way, I'm the black sheep of the family when it comes to showing and expressing affection. Somehow grandma's traditions of hugs, kisses, and "I love you's" for everyone, at every family gathering, skipped right over me. I've learned that I'm much better with words in writing, so I've decided to let everyone know just how special they are to me through my blog.

Each week, I'll write about a special someone in my life, in random order. I'll post a picture of that person, too, though I'm not promising any great photographic shots!

Up first: Amber

I never fathomed that I would ever move in with a complete stranger, and I definitely never dreamt that my new roommate would become such a dear friend, especially in only 3 months. Well, Amber, you have definitely proved me wrong. I knew from the very first night that we'd soon become great friends. On that chilly Tuesday night, you helped me carry up loads of boxes, bags, and tons of clothes. We chatted for a while and began to realize just how similar our paths had been so far. Since then, we've shared many stories, both old and new, and not once have you turned your ear away. You're always willing to listen, even at 5 a.m. when I'm ranting and raving. You listen with a genuine heart and open mind. You never judge; you never give your opinion; and you never tell me what I should or shouldn't be doing. You just listen, and I absolutely love that about you! I'm very thankful and grateful to have you as a friend (and roommate). I look forward to sharing many more crazy stories and lots of laughs!
